VIDEO : Scientology Super Bowl ad sparks controversy

 A 30-second Super Bowl commercial wants you to learn more about Scientology.

The church ran an ad during the big game for the sixth straight year, this time encouraging viewers to find out about the religious beliefs of the controversial organization.

The spot includes shots of the Church of Scientology on Sunset Blvd. and Hollywood Blvd., as well as the logo superimposed onto a billboard in Times Square.

“Curious? We thought so,” the closing narration reads.

Amid controversy about the secretive religion, including alleged abuses and the disappearance of several high-level members, social media users questioned the commercial.

“Anything happen in the last 5 mins? I’ve been reading all the cool stuff on the Scientology website. Seems like a great group of folks over there,” tweeted WFAN host Gregg Giannotti.

“I was hoping that Scientology ad was going to be another Tide ad,” wrote comedian Rory Albanese.

“Did @nbc really accept a #scientology ad?? They are patently anti-LGBT and dangerous. Very disappointing,” LGBT advocate Cyd Zeigler tweeted.

“Um, this Scientology commercial asking ‘yeah, what do they believe?’ @LeahRemini already explained all of it to us, and no, we are not ‘curious?’ you horrifying, family-destroying cult!” wrote actor Emerson Collins.
